I am no longer wise:-( I had my wisdom teeth taken out yesterday!! When my sister had hers taken out about 6 years ago, she had a really small jaw and braces… so she was out for about a week. It’s the day after my surgery and I’m feeling pretty good! They’ve been bothering me for about a year and I knew I’d have to get them taken out soon. In the last week, my jaw had been killing me. During quarantine, we’re not supposed to go to the dentist unless there are emergencies, so they took me in and recommended to get all four taken out. My bottom two were growing in diagonal, so those had to GO to make the pain go away and avoid infection. The top two would be fine for a few years but eventually would cause painful crowding. So, two days after the consultation, I had all four surgically removed. Going in, I wasn’t too nervous because I knew I’d be knocked out, my only worry was the IV. I do not like needles. I expected to be put to sleep by gas, but instead, they used what I discovered is called “The Twilight Zone”. Apparently, TTZ puts you to sleep but allows you to be conscious enough to respond to the dentist's orders all the while not remembering anything. When they put the IV in, it was super uncomfortable. After a while, the doc came in. I had a couple of questions for him. I asked him why they use IV instead of gas and he said chuckling, “you’ll find out in about 20 seconds.” I then wanted to ask him if it’s harder to get the top ones more than the bottom ones, but I was out before I had the chance.
The next thing I remember was getting into my mom’s car. I don’t remember the entire ride home, which is why I’m thankful we were able to film it. It’s a once-in-a-life opportunity, people! Overall, I’m thankful I moved to my mom’s after my university shut down because of COVID-19 so that I have a place to rest and my mom can take care of me. She’s amazing. I really loved chicken broth, beef broth, jello, and apple juice for my first day of recovery. This morning I was able to have some toast (just not the crunchy parts) and some eggs. The most surprising thing is how much pain I’m not in. I feel like I should be in more pain… but of course, I’m thankful it’s not debilitating. I mean I guess I’m still on drugs so that helps. It has been strange to have this done on Easter weekend but has given me more time to reflect on the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross. What a day in history. I’ve been pondering on verse 1 John 3:14 the past two days: “We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death.” 1 John is such a powerful book all about abiding in Christ and how to live serving and loving one another. Isn’t it a blessing that we have that ability? Because we are in Christ, we may love one another as He loves us. Hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus, for showing us the love of the Father and offering us eternal life with you. Tomorrow, we celebrate your resurrection. The glorious day where the stone was rolled away and even those closest to you were surprised. Every day, we celebrate your life, your death, your resurrection, your ascension, and your life within us. You sit at the right hand of the Father interceding for us every minute. Thank you, Lord Jesus Christ!
