Synopsis

Every 100 years, the Centennial brings rulers of six realms to the island of Lightlark. They must compete in a deadly game of strategy, betrayal, and survival, each hoping to break their own curse. Isla Crown, ruler of Wildling, hides a dangerous secret that could change everything…if she survives long enough.

Review

The premise of the book is fascinating and I was excited to dive into a whole new world. A high-stakes game between cursed rulers? That’s exactly the kind of fantasy I love. Unfortunately, the execution just didn’t hold up. The writing, dialogue, and experience fell extremely flat. I was confused most of the time, and the vague, choppy world-building never got better as I read close to half of the book.

I commend the author on this idea for world, characters, and plot, and I hope she continues to write and increases her skills in novel-writing (and hopefully puts together a more comprehensive and helpful editing team)!
