Randomly today in my Theology class, I got a flashback to October 2016.

My mom and I were laying in the living room watching The Revenant, specifically the scary bear scene when Leo gets ripped to shreds. Suddenly my mother, who is the least spontaneous person you will ever meet bolts up and says, “do you want to go camping?”

Let me rephrase and stage the setting. We had just finished the scene in The Revenant where a bear - in the woods - rips apart the main character, and my mom had the urge to go camping?!

I was so excited. We got the gear together, suited up Texie (our Dachshund), and set off for the campgrounds.

It was such a fun day and a half. We roasted hot dogs, played the guitar and sang, and slept soundly in a beautiful green tent. Our neighbor was a bit strange, but let us use their extension cord so we could put a fan in our tent.

A couple of hours into our camping trip, my mother admitted it wasn’t spontaneous, she’d been planning it for a while...
