I love space.

I love NASA and all the comings and goings of space research. It's so cool!

"SpaceX, an American private space transportation company."

Just that sentence is insane to think about. WHAT?! We are living in the future.

Thanks to SpaceX, on May 30th, NASA was able to send a manned mission to the International Space Station for the first time since the space program shut down in 2011.

"For the first time in history, NASA astronauts have launched from American soil in a commercially built and operated American crew spacecraft on its way to the International Space Station. The SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft carrying NASA astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley lifted off at 3:22 p.m. EDT Saturday on the company’s Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The crew will have a 19-hour-journey to the space station, arriving on Sunday, May 31."

What would we do without Elon Musk?

As a kid and until my preteens, I wanted to be an astronaut. I struggled with my love for space because God has called us to the ends of the earth, not outside the earth. Of course, I’ve come to learn that he has called us to be a disciple-maker in whatever profession we come into, this includes astronauts.

They have such a unique calling to go beyond this creation and study other places that God created too. His handiwork is so evident and beautiful, all you have to do is look upward.

Science and scientific discovery are, as Landa Cope puts it, “the hand of God extended to us in mercy.”

If anything, God is glorified by the scientific works and discoveries that are being done and if it doesn’t glorify him or is harmful, God will handle it. It is not our responsibility to be God, many people miss this subconsciously.

Science is so incredibly important to God and our responsibility is to see Him in it, ask him questions, and glorify Him in the knowledge he shares.

“No calling in God’s kingdom is the second rate.” I think there is so much emphasis in the church today about youth serving in the church. This is great, good pastors are needed everywhere. However, a child should not feel ashamed when they feel called by God to be a coach, accountant, lawyer, HR representative, or an astronaut. These are worthy callings that God will use to glorify and extend His kingdom. Learning this lesson more and being able to articulate it, it is so important that I use the influence I do have to encourage young people to achieve the job they believe God is calling them into and to be a missionary as they go. Pastors are awesome, but they only really reach the people entering the building. It is the fellowship’s responsibility to disciple the nations as they go. This is evident in business as missions and something I’m extremely excited to be a part of.
